Recently, it was reported that some Nokia Lumia 800s were facing battery issues where the capacity of the battery is under-reported by firmware; thereby leading to a poor battery life.
However, Nokia promised an update to solve this problem and recently, Plaffo.com extracted the exact date from the Italian carrier support staff.
Apparently, a memo received by 3 Italy says:
Subject: WARNING: Problem Nokia Battery Lumia 800 for the only colors Cyan and Magenta.
Nokia has revealed a limited duration of the battery to the software problem Lumia 800
only for the Cyan and Magenta.
As of January 18 there will be a sw update that will also apply directly to the end customer.
Meanwhile, if the customer insists on the immediate solution of the problem
proceed as follows: Open a SAT warranty notes indicating “Battery Problem”
The terminal will be replaced with a new terminal
Therefore, an update will be out in the coming 3 to 4 weeks and those who do not wish to wait can claim for a replacement.
You can check the battery capacity of your Nokia Lumia 800 by typing ##634# and selecting the “Battery Status” option. A reading of 979Mah or similar means that you phone needs an update.
