Recent share stats released by Kantar WorldPanel reveal that there has been a tremendous rise in the market share of Windows Phone platform across 7 of the biggest markets. The stats were based on the ups and downs in the cellphone market industry in the past 12 weeks. The news has indeed been a great one for both, Nokia and Microsoft, and most of the credit for the same goes to the success of Lumia 900 in the US.
The rise has been of 3-4% across 5 major markets, including France, Italy, Britain, Germany and the US. Among these, the most increase in share was seen in Germany with nearly 6% growth in the market-share in the past 1 year.
What was more fascinating to see was the jump of Windows Phone platform ahead of Blackberry. Blackberry’s market-share was seen to drop significantly by 9% and now stands at just 3%. This greatly allowed WP platform to overtake the failing company. Kantar also predicted that the share of WP platform in Europe could rise to 10% at the end of this year; though no predictions were made for the US.
