Finally, Lumia 900 is launched in Finland. And it was not just the celebrations of the launch of this Windows Phone device, the party was also the official launch party of Nokia TV.
To specify here, the launch of Nokia TV as a Beta version was just for Finland only at present. There is no assurance as yet if this service will be made available in other countries as well. But, one thing is confirmed that it will not be launched soon, as the service requires a lot of legalities to be completed before launch. Nevertheless, the launch of Nokia TV has surely added another achievement in the Entertainment services list provided by Nokia. Not to forget, the list already includes services like Mix Radio and Nokia Reading.
For all those who are wondering as to what Nokia TV actually is, it provides an experience of rich hub where all the broadcasters locally available in the country can stream whatever content they wish to display on the Lumia 900. In addition, there is also a local catchup TV feature where the user can play the content streamed last night. Whatever content is hosted for about 14 days can last unto a month, depending upon the local broadcaster. The Nokia TV app hosts the meta data and comes directly from the service provider.
However, as expected, the Lumia 900 launched was the ROW (rest of the world) variant that was launched by Nokia Finland, which lacks the LTE-support. However, this is no big an issue as Finland does not support LTE as yet.
